Companies that own and run public chargers. You can pay them directly — ad hoc by bank card or in their own app.
One account for many networks: the provider pays the charger's owner and bills you. Handy when travelling, sometimes dearer than the network's own price.
Software for companies, housing associations and charge-point operators to run, share and bill their own chargers.

Household electricity in Ireland costs €0.404 per kWh including all taxes (Jul–Dec 2025). Charging a 60 kWh battery from empty to full costs about €24.25, and driving 100 km at 17 kWh/100 km costs about €6.87.
Charged at home, 100 km in Ireland costs about €6.87 in electricity. At 6.5 l/100 km and this week's average pump prices, the same distance costs about €12.89 in petrol or €14.07 in diesel. Public fast charging costs more per kWh than home electricity, so the gap narrows for drivers who charge mostly on the road. Electricity prices: Jul–Dec 2025; fuel prices: October 5, 2026.
Charging networks: IONITY, Tesla Supercharger, and ESB ecars. Charging cards and apps: Octopus Electroverse. Charging platforms for businesses: Monta.
A charging network (charge point operator, CPO) owns and runs the chargers — IONITY, Fastned or EnBW, for example. A charging card or app (e-mobility service provider, eMSP) sells you access to many networks through one account and bills you, which helps abroad. A charging platform is software that businesses, housing associations and operators use to run and bill their own chargers — Monta, Spirii or Virta, for example; drivers reach those chargers through an app.
Yes. Under the EU's Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), public chargers installed since April 2024 must let you pay ad hoc without a contract, new chargers of 50 kW or more must accept bank cards, and the price must be shown before you start charging. A subscription or charging card can still be cheaper if you charge often with the same provider.
